In a lawsuit updated Monday, music producer Rodney Jones, also known as Lil Rod, has added actor Cuba Gooding Jr. to his February sexual assault case against Sean “Diddy” Combs.
According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Jones alleges that Gooding Jr. sexually harassed and assaulted him at a party on a yacht chartered by Combs in the U.S. Virgin Islands in January of 2023. Jones claims Gooding Jr. initiated unwanted touching and groping, which did not stop until Jones forcefully pushed him away.
The lawsuit asserted that as the yacht’s owner, Combs failed in his duty to protect Jones from Gooding Jr.’s actions.
The lawsuit stated, “As the owner of the property, Mr. Combs had a duty to protect Mr. Jones from the harm he suffered at the hands of Cuba Gooding Jr.” It further elaborated that “Mr. Combs breached his duty when he failed to stop Cuba Gooding Jr. from sexually assaulting Mr. Jones.”
Gooding Jr. is known for his Academy Award-winning role as Rod Tidwell in “Jerry Maguire,” among other notable performances. Gooding’s career took off in the early 90s, and he quickly became known for his versatility in roles, appearing in films across various genres, from drama to comedy.
His performances in “Boyz n the Hood,” “A Few Good Men,” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” where he portrayed O.J. Simpson, are particularly noteworthy. Despite facing legal issues and controversies in recent years, Gooding’s contributions to film and television have been significant.
Gooding faced allegations of sexual misconduct previously. He was scheduled for a court appearance in June 2023 regarding claims of rape against him. Nonetheless, shortly before the selection of the jury was to commence, Gooding and the accuser, who remains unnamed, reached a settlement.
In the lawsuit initiated against Combs in February, Jones charged the rapper with sexually assaulting him and compelling him to engage in sexual activities with prostitutes.
On Monday the Department of Homeland Security conducted a raid on the property in Holmby Hills linked to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of sex trafficking. The residence, registered to Bad Boy Films, a division of Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment, was associated with one of Combs’ daughters.
Law enforcement swiftly surrounded the area on Monday, with reports of at least 30 vehicles and three armored units on the scene. Eyewitnesses observed several people detained outside the home.
Officers, heavily armed, were seen entering the premises through a side gate and conducting a thorough search of the property, including the garage area in video shown from Fox 11 (KTTV). At least three people present in the home at the time of the raid were taken into custody, though it has not been confirmed if they are under arrest or merely being questioned.
