Former President Donald Trump has been declared the winner of Missouri’s Republican caucus, once again beating out former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
The Associated Press called the race for Trump shortly before 1 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday. With roughly 26 percent of the votes counted as of 3:38 p.m., the former president has received 100 percent of the 247 votes cast by statewide delegates. Haley has yet to receive a single vote as of this report.
In total, Missouri carries 51 delegates that can be allocated to candidates through a weeks-long process.
“Fifty-one of them are awarded to candidates through a monthslong process that begins Saturday. Eleven delegates will be awarded to candidates at the statewide level, while five delegates will be awarded from each of Missouri’s eight congressional districts. That’s a combined total of 51 delegates at stake in what’s known as a ‘caucus-convention’ system,” the AP noted. “The remaining three delegates are the state party chairman and Missouri’s Republican national committeeman and committeewoman, who may support any candidate they wish regardless of caucus results.”
Fresh off a blowout win in Michigan earlier this week, former President Trump took to Truth Social to thank supporters after the race was called. ““THANK YOU, MISSOURI! Together, WE are going to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” Trump wrote.
The Missouri caucus is one of three Republican primary contests up for grabs on Saturday, as the Michigan State Convention and the Idaho Caucuses are also underway.
Former President Trump will be hoping for a sweep in order to keep his unbeaten streak intact. Trump has already won the Iowa Caucuses, as well as primary contests in Nevada, South Carolina, Michigan, the Virgin Islands and New Hampshire.
