Country music legend Reba McEntire is set to grace Super Bowl LVIII with her rendition of the National Anthem. McEntire joined CBS hosts Gayle King and Nate Burleson on Thursday where she opened up about her feelings and preparations for the prestigious event.
“I got the news from my manager, Justin McIntosh. He said that they wanted me to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. And I said, ‘oh, my gosh, well, let me think about that,’” McEntire recounted. Her boyfriend Rexland, a fervent football fan, was quick to respond, “Yes, she’ll do it.”
Joining McEntire in the Super Bowl lineup will be Post Malone, performing “America the Beautiful,” and Andra Day, who will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

McEntire, a renowned country music artist, has been involved in various performances in sports events. She has been singing the National Anthem since 1974.
McEntire shared her approach to preparing for such a significant performance. “You just warm up like you do a concert and sing it about five or six times and get in there and do it.”
A nostalgic moment came in the interview when McEntire was shown a commercial from the mid-90s. She advised her younger self, “Hang in there, don’t take things so seriously and have fun.”

Several Super Bowl national anthem performances have stood out over the years for their emotional impact and vocal excellence. Whitney Houston’s rendition in 1991 during Super Bowl XXV is often considered the best. Her performance, set against the backdrop of the Gulf War, was both emotionally resonant and vocally flawless, leaving a lasting impression.
Another memorable performance was by Lady Gaga in 2016 at Super Bowl 50. Known for her dynamic stage presence and powerful vocals, Lady Gaga delivered a rendition that was both passionate and technically superb.
This year’s big game is scheduled for Sunday, February 11th, and will be broadcast on CBS, Nickelodeon, and streaming on Paramount Plus.

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, activist and acclaimed actress Andra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Initially known for her 2016 Grammy-nominated behemoth, “Rise Up,” which amassed over 1 billion streams and an RIAA triple-platinum certification, Day has performed alongside numerous global artists and stars. Her feature-acting debut “The United States vs. Billie Holiday” earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Oscars, two Golden Globes for Actress in a Drama Motion Picture and Original Song in a Motion Picture.
The national anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing” will be produced and arranged by Emmy Award-winning Musical Director/Producer Adam Blackstone.
