Syrian President Bashar al-Assad recently attended an emergency Arab summit in Saudi Arabia over the Gaza war.
Assad, once the scourge of the Saudis and their Western partners, was greeted with smiles from Saudi royals as his plane landed in the nation.

Assad was joined by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at the Arab summit where they put the blame on Israel.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) called for peace in Gaza, saying that Israel must relent their actions while seemingly giving a pass to Hamas.
“This is a humanitarian catastrophe that has proved the failure of the international community and the UN Security Council to put an end to Israel’s gross violations of international humanitarian laws, and prove the dual standards adopted by the world,” he said.
“We are certain the only cause for peace is the end of the Israeli occupation and illegal settlements, and restoration of the established rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of the state on 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” MBS added.

“Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin declared in a statement that the strike launched by two F-15 fighter jets was “a response to a series of attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria” by Iranian-backed forces. President Joe Biden “has no higher priority than the safety of US personnel, and he directed today’s action to make clear that the United States will defend itself, its personnel, and its interests,” Austin stated.
This latest volley came hours following the Defense Department’s announcement that there had been at least 41 attacks carried out against American military personnel in Iraq and Syria since October 17. Officials claim that at least 46 of its military units have been injured, several who have suffered traumatic brain injuries.
On November 8, Austin told reporters that “if the attacks against our forces don’t decrease or stop, we will take additional measures. We’re going to do everything we can to protect our troops and we’re absolutely serious about that.”
A senior military official told reporters on November 8 said the target was a warehouse allegedly being run by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. US military authorities had been monitoring this facility for some time.”
The thought of the Saudis coming together with Syria would have been unthinkable years ago. This shift that is happening in the Arab world is remarkable and does not bode well for Israel and Western powers.
